Treating hemorrhoids in Los Angeles requires a diverse skill set that includes diagnosis, minimally invasive surgery, and excellent aftercare. Although you might see some success from home remedies and lifestyle changes, when things get difficult it’s important to visit a hemorrhoid expert.
But not everybody follows this commonsense advice, sadly. Recently one of my patients sent in this extraordinary tale of hemorrhoid self-care gone wrong – a woman in China who subscribed to a folkloric remedy involving poisonous centipedes:
A Harbin woman died after she willingly ate 10 poisonous centipedes as part of folk remedy to cure her hemorrhoids. . . .The remedy follows a principle in traditional Chinese medicine “fighting disease with poison,” shzhidao.cn reported.
In a truly tragic turn, the woman died within a matter of days at a local hospital.
Needless to say, this is not the right way to approach hemorrhoids. Self-care that falls well outside the mainstream is never a wise choice, especially if you have access to more modern care.
Moral of the story: stay safe, and contact a Los Angeles hemorrhoid doctor for swift, effective care for internal hemorrhoids, external hemorrhoids, and all related symptoms.
